Say hello

to the woman
you always dreamt of becoming

I help you work out what you actually want, build the confidence and visibility to go after it, and create a plan that makes the next chapter feel possible. I also work with organisations that want to support ambitious women to grow, lead and stay engaged without burning themselves out.

Everything I do is designed to turn ambition into direction and direction into action.

I know what it’s like to have a career that looks great from the outside — and still feels… off.

When I was little, my biggest ambition was to become an account director (Young Kat sure knew what she wanted!). Well, I reached that goal when I was 27. And by the time I was 30, I was managing director of an impressive creative agency.

By every external measure, I was succeeding. But none of it felt like the thing I was born to do.

The world doesn't need the small version of you

They say 40 is the new 20 and TG for that

It needs the one with a clear direction, and the support to follow through.
(And that’s what my work is about 😉)

That MD title should have been the happy ending. After those years of feeling unchallenged, whilst simultaneously taking hits to my confidence, it was everything little-me had dreamed about, back on the table.

So I kept myself busy. Across the span of about two-and-a-half years I:

  • pitched myself into a brand-side role while on maternity leave with a three-month-old at home
  • got moved out of that role nine months later when the business needed something entirely different — a big punt that didn't pay off
  • tried freelancing, and learned I hate working alone
  • took a five-month contract to steady the ship
  • landed a strategy director role I could have done in my sleep (which left me feeling very unmotivated)
  • Then got head-hunted into a shiny MD title

I wanna thank Allpress coffee and Four Pillars Gin for all their support over those years...

Nearly a year in, the owner sat me down: KPIs smashed, equity on offer, keys to the whole thing.

“Sign here, Kat!”

And sitting in that conversation — the one I'd spent twenty years climbing toward — I started questioning everything.

Because I finally saw what I'd been too busy to see: I hadn't really chosen any of it. For two decades, the work had been choosing me.

Nobody was coming to sit me down and ask what I actually wanted.  That was mine to do.  And I'd been avoiding it for years.

Instead, my low point arrived dressed as the high point

You mean there's no 'Get Outta Jail Free' card for this one?

The big brands had all the money. The small brands had all the soul. And no one was handing the second group a big enough microphone. [Enter me, stage left]

What finally shifted everything wasn’t more advice or another ‘great’ opportunity

It was treating the question the way I’d treat any brief worth taking seriously: with actual structure. And here’s the part I still find funny.

Everything I needed was already in my hands. For twenty years, I’d been the person businesses brought in to:

On my way to work out what to actually do with my life

I’d done it for brands my whole career. I’d just never once thought to do it for me. So… I did.

sharpen the positioning
follow through
set the strategy
define the vision

That feeling when existential dread stops waking you up at 3am and life starts to make sense again

In other words, I took my raw ambition and refined it.

I refined it into a vision I could actually see: work that used every part of me, ambition with somewhere to go, and a life with room for the people in it.

I refined it into a plan: what to bank first, what to build next and what the first twelve months were for.

And I refined it into a life I’d choose again and again.

I applied my frameworks to my own life, and within a matter of months, the fog cleared.

I knew what mattered.
I knew what I wanted.
And I knew what to do first, then what to do next.
Why this work / Why this work / Why this work / Why this work /

When you train as a coach, you’re taught to stay out of the way — no frameworks, no structure, just open questions and wherever the conversation goes.

My own coach told me the same thing: “Free yourself of the structure.” And I heard her. I even got good at coaching that way.

But it never rang 100% true, because I was watching what actually happened with the women I coached…

The more structure I gave them, the freer they were. The frameworks weren’t boxing them in. They gave them a container that helped them move faster and access more confidence sooner.

That’s The Refined Ambition Method: It’s the structured way through that I couldn’t find when I needed it.

Tested on me first, and used with every client I’ve coached since.

The Refined Ambition Method wasn’t handed to me in a coaching certification. It was almost the opposite.

It's kind of a funny story

Pretending to understand why coaches are trained this way...

Women who ask for what they want. Saying the thing everyone's thinking. Career pivots that make you feel alive again. Backing yourself before you feel "ready". Saying no without a three-paragraph explanation*

“Kat has this way of really listening, asking the right questions, and there’s no fluff or beating around the bush.”

Take it from them

“She gets straight to the heart of what’s going on, while still making you feel completely supported and capable.  What makes her different is how relatable she is - you can tell she’s lived it, not just learned it - and that comes through in how she coaches. Honestly, working with her feels like having access to a more experienced, no BS version of yourself! Highly, highly recommend!”
